Golden Gateway makes it easy to meet other players and take advantage of our tennis resources:

Game Arranging Services

We encourage all members with an USTA rating to use the Club’s game arranging service called TopDog. TopDog is an interactive software program that lets you arrange games with other players at your level. We want to help you become an active member of our tennis community!

Using TopDog for the first time? Please download our PDF: How to Get Started with TopDog. Once you are registered, you can go directly to TopDog. Members can also access TopDog through Xpiron.

Quarterly Tennis Circuits

Circuits are an ongoing event at Golden Gateway. They begin each quarter for players of all levels. Set up as a competitive Club ladder, circuits enable you to play one match per week for ten weeks against people of a similar level. Sign up in advance in the Tennis Events binder located in the Tennis Lobby. Anyone who wants to compete can play! For more information, contact our tennis director at 415.616.8800 or tennis@ggtsc.com.

Tournaments

Our annual tournaments include the Golden Gateway Singles Championship and Doubles Championship. The Singles Championship, our biggest event of the year, offers several divisions so that every player will find a perfect fit. You might even win a month’s free dues. Sign up in advance in the Tennis Events binder located in the Tennis Lobby. For more information, contact our tennis director at 415.616.8800 or tennis@ggtsc.com.

USTA Rating System

The United States Tennis Association (USTA) is the official system for determining a player’s competitive skill level. Golden Gateway uses this system to help members connect with other members of similar playing ability. It helps everyone enjoy the game more fully by facilitating compatible matches, group lessons, tournaments, and other Club programs.

USTA is a self-rating system. It uses a number system that begins with 1 (for beginners) and increases in increments of 0.5 up to 7 (world-class level). If you do not have an USTA rating, and would like one, please let one of our tennis professionls know. To learn more, visit the USTA Web site.

Complimentary Evaluation

Every new member is eligible for a complimentary half-hour evaluation with one of our tennis professionals. During this time, you’ll hit a variety of shots to determine your USTA rating. This rating allows us to arrange games for you with compatible players and to suggest appropriate programs and clinics. We’ll spend the last few minutes of your evaluation filling out a few forms and introducing you to all of the tennis activities and resources at the Club.

Ball Machines

The Club has two ball machines for members to use. There is no charge for this service. You may reserve the ball machine court in 75-minute increments.

Club Rental

Let the Club host a clinic and/or round robin for up to 16 of your friends and colleagues. It’s a great way to celebrate a birthday or have an off-site/team-building retreat. We host corporate tennis events year-round, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm. Event packages are available. For more information, please contact our tennis director at 415.616.8800 or tennis@ggtsc.com.

Racquet Services

The Club’s professional re-stringing service offers a wide selection of stringing options at competitive prices. And if a string should break while you’re out on the court, we’ll provide you with a loaner racquet so your play doesn’t have to be interrupted.
